# When a booking payment fails, what happens?

Answer

We give the customer an hour to pay, and then cancel the booking if they don't

When a customer makes a booking, by default they have an hour to pay for it. If they don't pay within that hour, the booking is cancelled. During this hour, the booking is marked as 'Pending' in Jammed, and the availability is blocked out so that no-one else can book it, but the booking is not confirmed and they don't receive any confirmation emails.

If the customer pays within the hour, the booking is confirmed and they receive a confirmation email.

You can change the time limit for payment in the Booking settings - look for the "Payment expiration time" option. You can set this from 15 minutes up to 2 hours.

TIP

This setting is only available if you're using Stripe or Square for payments.
